Micrium's µC/TCP-IP networking stack now supports IPv6.
IPv6’s addressing scheme provides more addresses than there are grains of sand on Earth — some have calculated that it could be as high as 1030 addresses per person. With IPv6, it is much simpler for an embedded device to obtain a global IP address, which enables efficient peer-to-peer communication.
If you're already using Micrium's µC/TCP-IP, you'll find that integrating the new IPv6 stack into an existing design is straightforward. µC/TCP-IP allows for simultaneous use of IPv4 and IPv6. Micrium will continue to provide its IPv4 and IPv6 network stacks separately, and they can be used in your product individually or in tandem.
Micrum’s support for IPv6 includes:
- IPv6 Node
- Multiple IP addresses per interface
- IPv6 Multicast (MLD)
- Neighbour Discovery Protocol (NDP)
- ICMPv6 (echo request/response)
