Micrium’s Royalty-Free uC/TCP-IP Networking Stack
Available for Free 45-Day Evaluation
WESTON, FL, USA--September 19, 2006 – Micrium, a leading provider of high quality embedded software components, today announced that the complete source code for its uC/TCP-IP stack is available for free 45-day evaluation. Micrium continues its reputation for delivering the cleanest royalty-free source code available with the portable, ROMable, and scalable uC/TCP-IP. This product is designed specifically for the demanding requirements of embedded system designs.
uC/TCP-IP features zero copy buffer management for high efficiency, minimal critical sections for fast interrupt response, and the ability to disable select run-time argument validations to reduce the footprint. All are key factors for an efficient embedded system design.
"Micrium's uC/TCP-IP stack and uC/OS-II RTOS provide the most robust solution in the industry for networked applications at a very attractive price. Our customers will benefit greatly from this combination," said Jean Labrosse, president of Micrium. "With our free 45-day evaluation offer, you will be able to experience uC/TCP-IP and uC/OS-II before you are ready to make a purchase. No other company is as confident in the quality of its products."
Built from the ground up to deliver exceptional quality, scalability and reliability, uC/TCP-IP is written in ANSI C and is not derived from publicly available Unix stacks but maintains compatibility with the Berkeley 4.4 socket layer interface. Protocols included in the evaluation package are TCP, UDP, IP, ICMP, ARP and BSD v4.4 sockets. NIC drivers will be available for free download from the Micrium web site.
A validation suite is being developed complete with necessary documentation to ensure suitability for Safety Critical Systems common to aviation and medical product use. The source code for uC/TCP-IP and uC/OS-II follows most of the Motor Industry Software Reliability Association (MISRA) C Coding Standards, created to improve the reliability and predictability of C programs in critical automotive systems.
uC/TCP-IP is royalty-free and is licensed on a per-end-product basis. Each different product that embeds uC/TCP-IP requires its own license.
